Happy Feet!!!

This week I received my Altra Eve's in the mail! This is so exciting! They are the shoes that Jacob designed! They mimic being barefoot, and since that is my favorite way to be.... they are my favorite shoes! They are really comfortable. There is lots of room in the toe box so that your toes can spread out the way that they are supposed to when you walk. And the sole is very very flexible. Here are some pictures that I snapped when I first tried them on.

Sara's Mission Call

Sara got her mission call this week!! She goes into the MTC on October 19. We have a lot to do!
Watch the video to find out where she is going...

Missouri

Wow!  I can't believe how this summer has flown by!  David started school last week.  We had an eventful summer.   In June, David and I went to Missouri to do family history.  This is the second year that we have gone.  I blogged every night about the things that we did, which can be found at www.meanderingthroughourroots.wordpress.com.  There a lot of things that I enjoyed about Missouri. Here are some highlights of our trip.

I loved the wildflowers on the sides of the roads.
I didn't get a picture, though I tried.  We saw a few turtles crossing the road!
We went to Hannibal and hiked a Tom Sawyer trail.  It went up many, many stairs.  At the top, we could look down on the Mississippi River.  Here is a picture of a house at the top of the trail.  And when you turned around, here is a view of the Mississippi.  It was beautiful, and the hike was fun, but I was kind of disappointed in Hannibal as a whole.  I had envisioned a quaint little town, but Hannibal is fairly large.  The town of Louisiana was more what I had in mind when I envisioned Hannibal while reading Tom Sawyer.

Another thing that I loved about Missouri was seeing the Amish and the Amish buggies. They had their own parking stall at Wal-Mart!  I would have loved to get pictures of the cute Amish families shopping in Wal-Mart.   It was a great trip.  I hope we make it back sometime.

Hard Things....

Oh that we could live life without these hard trials that come upon us....  but then, I guess we wouldn't grow and become better.  I thought about deleting the post about Jacob's upcoming marriage, but it is part of us and who we are.  We had a lot of fun, planning and making things for the wedding, but the wedding will not be happening on Saturday.  It is one of those hard things in life.   Doubts crept in, and they took a step back to think about things.   If I delete the post and make it go away, then it is as if I am rejecting the trials that come in life, and not accepting the challenge they bring to help us grow.  I choose to grow and move forward.  I think Jacob and Sarah Jane choose the same.  I hope that we all attain what it is that we are striving for.

Happy Memorial Day

We have several people in our family who have fought or died in war.  I don't know any of them personally, but love and respect what they have done for our country.  I love reading about them, and getting to know who they were.  I am also so proud of this boy.  He fought in Iraq, and has been an example to so many.  To Ben, and all of the others who have fought for and are still fighting for our country - THANK YOU for the sacrifices that you have made to defend the United States of America!

Coming soon....

Lots of activities coming up!  Jacob and Sarah Jane will be married on June 11 in the Salt Lake Temple.  The next morning we will leave for another genealogy trip to Missouri and Illinois.  So many things to do!  Wish me luck that I can get it all done!
